Hi! I’m Jessica. I’ve loved to cook and eat for as long as I can remember, and since 2009 this blog has documented my adventures in the kitchen–at first as a novice cook, then as a culinary student, and now as a food professional. By day, I work as a food writer, recipe developer, and innovation consultant. The rest of the time you can find me eating, drinking, and/or daydreaming about my next gastronomic adventure with my family and friends.
I have a Grand Diplôme in cuisine and patisserie from Le Cordon Bleu Paris and a Master of Arts in Food Studies from New York University. I’ve also learned from the many incredible home cooks I’ve met throughout my life. Those experiences and encounters have taught me that food is a way to express identity, tradition, community, and creativity. The food and stories here are a reflection of that.
On JDP you’ll find flavorful recipes that give a new spin on home cooking–many of which touch upon my Korean background, French training, and American influence. Some dishes are easy, and others are more challenging, but each recipe has been carefully tested to make sure flavor is at the forefront.
I grew up in Seoul, Korea, and now live in Los Angeles, California with my husband, daughter, and rescue pup.
