I’m already back in Paris! It was a whirlwind of a trip full of (what felt like) 100+ bridesmaids dresses, tastings with caterers, venue visiting, dessert bar planning (yes! I’m doing the dessert bar!), sister talk, and mother-daughter-sister bonding. There are still a ton of things to do, but I’m so glad that I got to go and be a little part of the whole process.
It was so good to be back in the States. And while I try not to dwell too much on the things I miss about America (ie. friendly hospitality), I couldn’t help but take some photos with my phone of some of the more tangible things that I miss about the U.S.
Mega portions. Not that I want to eat it all (not that I ever haven’t!), but nothing says American like super sized meals.
Whole Foods. I used to spend hours at the one in Union Square, New York.
Peanut Butter. Nothing says UN-affordable as much as peanut butter in France. It’s ridiculous how much these cost in Paris! I miss licking a big spoonful of super chunk, Skippy crunch as a midnight snack.
Ihop. Or as my dad says Eehop.
How can anybody resist all-American pancakes, anytime, everyday!
Drive Thrus. Oh the convenience.
In-N-Out. My favorite. Chopped, cooked onions, real potato fries, and pink lemonade. Fast food heaven!
Barnes and Noble. One of my absolute favorite places to relax. I used to have my own little nook at the B&N in Union Square, right by the international cookbook section.
Food magazines. Nothing quite like receiving your monthly issue in the mail.
Martha. Yes…I miss seeing Martha everywhere.
Family breakfasts. My favorite meal of the day with the most special people. Awww.
California highways. Never ending.
Views like this. Big roads, open skies, and the ocean in back.

I love this post. I have never lived abroad (though would like to) and can only imagine the range of things I might miss about living in the States! And In-N-Out would definitely be on the list!

Hungry Dog- Nothing beats an In-N-Out cheeseburger!

This post got me thinking about what I would miss. In and out for sure. 🙂 Large portions, I dont know…

A little Yumminess- Large portions probably aren’t good for the health…or diet, haha.

I definitely have to agree with the hungry dog. I absolutely loved this post and everything about it. We have so much in common and yet it’s so funny because this post served as a beautiful reminder of the little things in life that we so often take for granted. Oh man, and I wish we had in-n-out here in Hawaii!
P.s. congrats to your sister on the wedding! I bet your dessert bar will be nothing short of fabulous!

Michelle- I got it a Ross!

Every time I come to California, the first place I go to eat is In N Out. And thanks for reminding me to pick up a stack of food magazines before I head back to Paris.
